- TOWED IN NO START KEY STUCK IN IGNITION
- BATTERY – Remove & Replace – [Includes: Test.]
- AFTER INSTALLING NEW BATTERY THE VEHICLE STILL WOULD NOT START THERE WAS NO POWER TO ANYTHING. THE BATTERY CONNECTIONS WERE CLEANED AND THE COMPUTER WAS RESET, THEN THE VEHICLE STARTED BUT HAD MANY FAULTS IN THE SYSTEM. THE MOST IMPORTANT WAS THE ALTERNATOR NOT CHARGING AT IDLE. PERFORMED STARTING CHARGING SYSTEM TEST AND PASSED BUT BARELY AND WAS NOT CHARGING AT IDLE, THE VOLTAGE WAS BELOW 12 VOLTS. PERFORMED VISUAL INSPECTION OF ALTERNATOR AND CONNECTORS AND FOUND A WIRING HARNESS UNDER THE ALTERNATOR WAS LAYING ON THE CV SHAFT AND RUBBED THROUGH THE HARNESS. THE CONNECTOR FOR THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR RUNS THROUGH THAT HARNESS. WENT TO TEST VOLTAGE AT THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR AND THE CONNECTOR WAS NOT CONNECTED AND WAS LAYING OFF TO THE SIDE. CHECKED VOLTAGE BEFORE PLUGGING BACK IN AND HAD THE 3.5 VOLTS THAT WAS REQUIRED. ONCE PLUGGED BACK ING THE ALTERNATOR BEGAN CHARGING AGAIN AT IDLE BUT WAS STILL LOWER THEN IT SHOULD BE AT, BETWEEN 12.4 TO 13.2 V BUT STILL PASSED AN ALTERNATOR LOAD TEST. THE ALTERNATOR IS RECOMMENDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO LOWER CHARGING VOLTAGE. THE WIRING HARNESS WAS REPAIRED AND RELOCATED TO AVOID THE ISSUE FROM HAPPENING AGAIN.
